“It feels like we signed a death warrant for the tourism sector and all other sectors that depend on a stable ecosystem! The oil exploration, eventual extraction and pipeline construction all take place in a very ecologically sensitive area. The Albertine rift houses about 70% of Uganda’s protected areas. This is where the mining and pipeline activities are going to take place. This region is a vital river and lake system for the Nile basin. River Semliki, Lake Albert, and the Nile River in Murchison Falls support both human and wildlife.”
