The Renewable Charge

As the global push for an equitable transition to renewable energy gains momentum, 350 GROC has been running a powerful community-led renewable energy advocacy campaign in Ghana. Under the renewable energy 4 communities(RE4C) campaign, the organisation has been raising awareness on the benefits of renewable energy, empowering youth and women and advocating for 100% RE in Ghana

Ghana's Renewable Energy potential

Solar

Ghana receives some of the highest amounts of radiation, globally, which makes it suitable for various solar energy.

Wind

With an estimated capacity of over 2,000 (MW), Ghana has abundant wind resources that can meet its energy needs.

Hydro

At present, Ghana's hydropower potential is estimated to be about 2420 MW

Geothermal

Thermal generation accounts for the largest share of Ghana's power generation, representing 66%

Ocean

Based on the ECMWF wave dataset, it's estimated that global Ghana's gross wave power resource is 7215 MW.
